The consulate history, the relation with the Lebanese Government
The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Guatemala in the Republic of
Lebanon was established in 1954 with a basic goal to strengthen relations between
the two countries on all levels, to serve the people of Guatemala and Lebanon
and bring them closer to each other despite the vast distance between them.
In the year 2000, the Guatemalan Ambassador to Egypt has made a one week
visit to the Consulate in Beirut and was delighted with the overall performance of
the Consulate. Other Guatemalan officials have showed interest and requested
information about Lebanese products and Tourism and have extended an
invitation to the Lebanese Minister of Tourism to the 2003 Tourism Congress in
Guatemala City.
